{travel tuesday} — new york, new york

28 Aug

the people have spoken.  and they’ve used the “like” button as their language. for 3-4 weeks i was posting images in “travel tuesday” that were from when i lived in new york.  LOTS of you liked the posts – almost 20 on each one! some were followers, some just newbies to the blog that probably saw “new york” in the tags, and clicked on it.  either way, the message was clear :

“WE LIKE NEW YORK!”

however, wanting/needing/appreciating diversity, i thought i’d try to post a different travel tuesday. variety is the spice of life, i thought… and i’ve been LOTS of other places… and last week i thought, maybe i should post about some OTHER place to travel to… a DIFFERENT place i’ve been or lived…

nope.  no one cares.  i had like, 4 “likes” last week…

so, i listened.  THE PEOPLE WANT NEW YORK!  and i can’t say i blame them…

🙂

so without further ado, here are some images from around my neighbourhood in the LES {lower east side} of manhattan.  one of the coolest places to live, in my opinion.  close to brooklyn and the L train across town, in the midst of all the artists, music, restaurants, and coyote ugly – yes, THE coyote ugly.  {which i totally went to with one of my male BFFs, and was like the only girl inside for the first hour, and had a little person ask me to join her on the bar to dance!  baahaha, memories}

oh, and lots of {very well-done} graffiti street art.  which seemed to change all the time, and i loved to fotograph it.

love the reflection…

it’s true.

absolutely LOVE this!!!

the sunburnt cow.  {website under construction} best happy hour EVER!  try the crabcake benedict!!!!  the wait staff is fully australian, and the ambiance is insanely fun!  🙂

i love the contrast here…

did you know i love to fotograph doors?! well, i do.

i heart weeping willow trees.

random chairs…

that’s the queensboro bridge up there…

that’s my crazy reflection…

and a funny sign…

trees growing out of buildings…

old windows…

new windows…

“old new york, new new york – honey, at least it’s NEW YORK!”  ——— samantha jones, SATC

New York Was So Much Fun when you were here! Coyote Ugly, my favorite bar, my favorite movie, my favorite actress, and now my favorite chefographer was actually in the bar! This is awesome for me to read!

Gorgeous photos. I’ve lived my whole life not far from NYC but still have never really *experienced* it. I’m just not a city gal. I’d love someone to show me around sometime. In the meantime, this is a nice vicarious alternative.

aww, thank you so much, liesl! NYC is a world of its own, for sure. i don’t even know if everyone should visit it… it’s not for everyone. 🙂 anyway, the doors and the stories behind them are what captured my attention the most. people started to just “get it” about me and we always planned an extra half hour to hour whenever we’d walk somewhere, because i’d have to stop every 18 steps to take a picture. 🙂

I so love the way you capture NY….people visit there and do their *thing*, but rarely does a person see it like you do! So colorful and whimsical! Love love love this post!!!!

awww, miss jenny what a kind thing to say, thank you so much!!! i like to see how other people see how i see, does that make sense?! i get lost in creating an image, and sometimes attach so much personally to an image, that i forget how the reader may view it. i’m glad to know my personality comes through 🙂 xxoo

I just wrote those down so I don’t miss them! We’re going for fun. My gf is a fashion blogger (drunkonshoes.com) and got invited to an event, so I’m tagging along for the ride! I’ll take pics, but of course they won’t be nearly as good as yours!
