{some virtual holiday haps}

16 Dec

hey gang – how’s winter treating you?

i really don’t wanna jinx it, but this time last year we had like double the amount of snow, if not triple, that we do now. we had a storm blow through this weekend, but nothing really accumulated or even fell from the clouds. i’ll probably get chastised for saying this, but i am perfectly fine without all that cold white stuff. {i do, however, like to see it flurrying down my screen from wordpress tech wonderland…}

i’m still in the holiday spirit, though. my tiny tree has been up in the tiny home since thanksgiving weekend and i’ve been watching tons of christmas movies and listening to christmas albums. i save “home alone” for christmas day – i wouldn’t say it’s my favourite, but it’s just one of those classics i have to watch every year. my favourite christmas movie ever is probably “love actually” ❤

what’s your favourite christmas movie?!

i also plan on pretty much not taking off this santa hat until december 26th. i have two cowlicks in my hair and when it’s short it’s fine, and when it’s long it’s fine… but i’m in the funky “growing out my hair” phase and sometimes throwing on a hat is the only way to get through my day and be happy about my hair. this time last year, it was about the same length, but i got impatient and cut it all off. this time, i will persevere! 😛

occasionally we get some really cool clouds up here. have you been looking up in wonder at the sky lately? …you should, and often.

LOVE : that wonderful feeling that can present itself in many forms. and sometimes the only place to find it is in a sticker plastered on a bench at a bus-stop… but it’s still there! ❤

a random salad i whipped up : brussel sprouts, cabbage, bacon, tart cherries, flax seeds, and parmesan cheese in a french vinaigrette. i admit i do not eat nearly as many cold salads in the winter… i just can’t get down with cold food in the cold months. but i do try to squeeze in some raw greens when the mood strikes me.

as a child of the 90’s, peace signs were kind of cool when i was growing up. we drew them on our notebooks, put pins on our backpacks, some of us even got tattoos of the peace sign!  but it’s kind of weird to me that you don’t often see it anymore – at least not like we did when i was a kid. seeing this peace sign drawn in permanent cement made me smile – it’s there forever, dammit! 😛

something so simple as a wreath does so much for my holiday spirit.  perhaps they remind me of my mom, in a way… i am pretty sure she would make them and we always had them on our doors, growing up. my neighbour thoughtfully bought me this wreath for the tiny house door…

cats are so simple… callee constantly reminds me of what love truly is. nothing makes me happier than seeing her precious face when i walk through the door at the end of the day. her sweet cackled meow in the mornings fills my heart with joy. yes – i am in love with my cat. ❤

oh, hi.

these furry caterpillars amaze me! they ain’t scareda no frost!

can’t get enough of this girl…

another yummy salad with baby kale, raddichio, brussel sprouts, croutons, parmesan cheese, and a yummy lemon-garlic vinaigrette. i can’t take credit for this one, though.

you CAN do yoga in a tiny house! {you just can’t flip your dog…}

a sweet lady that shops in the store i used to work at gave me these this jade for my birthday. it was actually the only gift i got at all. i was a little sad that weekend, and when i shared that with her, she shared some of her jade with me… which made my heart light up with gratitude and grace. i was afraid it was going to die because i had no soil to put it in… but it appears to be doing just fine, hydroponically! and it’s just so pretty!

this is what happens when i brush callee… once. i feel like a bad parent because i do not brush her as often as i should.  she has even started to develop two little belly dreads – baahahaha! it’s kind of cute but i feel bad because i should be probably be brushing her practically every day.

this is how she feels afterward, though. 🙂

’tis the season! 😉

happy holidays!

    awww, thank you for sharing all these lovely photos! I would say my favorite Christmas Movie is Annabelle’s Wish, a film from 1997. I am posting the link here. Its a about a tale, where all animals get to speak one night per year, on Christmas Eve. a Cow, Annabelle, gives up her one night of speech forever in exchange so that her good friend, an Orphan Boy, will speak and re-connect with the world. He grows up to buy the farm, get married and he forever takes care of Annabelle

    Thank you for this post today. I’m just not in the Christmas spirit at all and your random pictures with the joy that small things bring you brought a smile to my face. I need to focus more on the little things in life like a wreath on a door, or a beautiful salad.

      debbie, what a nice comment to receive!
      thank you sincerely for taking time to write – it truly means so much to me!

      life can feel so challenging sometimes. being human gets us wrapped up in a plethora of energy-sucking experiences… but i truly believe that there are so many beautiful moments {and more would come} swirling around in the simplicity of life, if we can just pause to shine light on and appreciate them.

      thank you for noticing ❤

        Audrey – “Energy-sucking experiences”. Think I may have to hijack your phrase. 😉 Keep posting your beautiful posts along with your uplifting captions. I can tell that you are a kind, benevolent, and gracious lady.
