i know what you must be thinking – “BREAD CHEESE?! that sounds… bizarre?! intriguing?! delicious?!”
…all of the above?!
it’s one of my favourite treats. it is rather expensive and therefore i do not buy it often. however, i had been craving it and so i nabbed an eight dollar chunk from my local market.
i had this ridiculous butter just waiting to be used. i normally serve bread cheese with maple syrup and i swear it tastes like french toast! i’m telling you – this stuff is insanely delicious!!
this butter was a free gift and i had been waiting to try it on something special. now that i’ve had it with my bread cheese, i can’t wait to try it on sweet potatoes!!
it’s virtually incombustible, and when sauteed long enough, the outside crisps up like french toast.
this time i served it with some fresh strawberry jam… i managed to make this block last about 3 days, which i’m very surprised about 🙂
bread cheese is a great gift for parties, housewarmings, and is a fun treat to share with fellow foodies who appreciate. i recommend a bottle of full-bodied red wine to compliment the sweetness of this cheese…
I am so hungry right now

I bought bread cheese when we vacationed in Wisconsin a few years ago. Loved it! I sprinkled Aleppo pepper flakes on mine. Now I want to try your sweet version. Luckily a few weeks ago I discovered it at a cheese shop in an area farmer’s market. Yay!

hi janel! thanks for the comment. i agree, it’s a great cheese, and you can make it sweet or savory. i’ve only had the former, so i’ll have to try your version as well!
thanks for stopping by.

Yum! I just returned from the east coast! Let’s get together and I’ll share my real maple syrup, if you share your bread cheese!
