just perfect.

heirloomtomato-web-1

so pretty.

cook ’em up …and put ’em on something… and eat ’em…  a lot!

because this is one kickass combo for health! and tomatoes are more bioavailable when cooked – did you know that? so what that means is your body absorbs more of the nutrients when cooked versus raw.  lycopene is a big one we know of with tomatoes, but this also applies for foods that are in that same colour family {oranges, yellows}… like red peppers, carrots, corn, etc… there is actually way more lycopene in tomato paste than a raw tomato.  fact check me, it’s amazingly true! 🙂

and this is totally why i want a tomato plant of my own very very soon!!!!

nom nom.

In fact, tomatoes should be eaten cooked AND raw because their different states optimize different nutrients!

That is an awesome head of garlic and a good looking tomato. I’m thinking they would look good as a diptych, although I think it would be better if they were shot from the same angle.

I’m looking forward to tomato season–I’ve been making do with sun-dried all winter.

a couple years ago, i was able to get these amazing san marzano tomatoes from whole foods market. they were out of this world – hydroponically grown. i swear the taste is better that way! ever had a hydroponic tomato?! thanks for the comment and for reading!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a hydroponic tomato. Sounds like it good be really good (but expensive?).
