once upon a time not long ago – for like four months, i was a pretty strict vegan. i just wanted to try it out… see how i felt. i will do it again, for sure – but for the most part, i just eat what my body tells me to and sometimes that includes organic, humane animal products.
when i was eating vegan i wondered how to get my omegas in my diet because i noticed when i took fish oil it gave me heartburn and i didn’t like the way it tasted. i haven’t gone back to fish oil since discovering flax oil. now – it’s not anything new to me, i’ve always known about flax… i just didn’t supplement with it until recently when it was suggested to me that i take it versus the fish oil.
omegas are good for our hair, skin, nails, heart, blood, and brain… among many other things. they help us stay “lubricated” and give our skin a lovely glow. i take flax oil by the capsule daily, but i love being able to buy the whole seeds in bulk such as this….
plus, it’s super cost-effective that way – this jar cost me about 50 cents! since it’s all about pinching pennies these days, i just buy a little at a time – who can beat that though, nutrition on a dime – literally!
organic golden whole flax seed.
i choose to buy it whole because, well – i own a vitamix. 🙂 and so i know i’m getting the nutritional benefits of the entire seed and i just toss it right in my smoothie creation…
in this case i mixed it with frozen berries, frozen mango, fresh spinach, a couple small dates, and coconut milk…
just fabulous!
funny thing. I’ve being reading up on flax seed and its benefits since I got my Vitamix, and am def gonna get buy some just for this purpose … incorporating it into smoothies. and yesterday, I did use a tablespoon of cha cha cha chia (sorry, couldn’t resist, lol) since I had some … despite a worldwide shortage!

THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I’m excited too, so far I’ve been drinking what I make right away … never occurred to me to save it for later, and thanks for the heads-up on the chia … and while I do try for a laugh on occasion, lol … not this time, it’s true, a chia shortage.

wow… maybe i should go buy some extra just in case. it baffles me when we have “worldwide shortages” – it ought to be a huge red flag that something is wrong. don’t get me on my soapbox about our over-consuming world…
try putting chia seeds in some juice and drink it after an hour or so, it’s fun! 🙂

Thank you so much for the healthy tip and recipe. My prescriptions are on the $4 list…if only my vitamins and supplements could be that inexpensive. And, thanks for visiting my blog and liking my “Excuse Me But I’m Hungry” post.
