{thirsty thursday} — snowfall, a christmas movie, and eggnog : the perfect december combo

13 Dec

hooray for snowfall this week here in colorado! we SO needed it!!!  we need a lot more, but the mountains got much more than we did in the city, and i’m grateful anyway.  my roommate and i went out to snap a few fotos near the lake by the house, but it was seriously freezing {about 18 degrees}, so i didn’t stay out long.  just long enough capture the mood and run back in 🙂

snownog1-1-2

we didn’t get much – not even an inch.

snownog-14

but yay anyway!

snownog-15

it kinda looks like i’m levitating…?

BBbbBbbrrRRrRrRrrRrrrRrRrrrrrr……. it was that kind of cold where it almost hurts to breathe. yikes!  also – i rarely ever talk fashion, but i love love love my coat from my favourite place ever to shop – uniqlo.  it’s a packable down that is surprisingly warm for how lightweight it is. i bought it prior to buying a car this fall when i was still riding my scooter to and from work.

after running outside briefly to capture these images, i ran back in and cozied up by the fire with one of my favourite holiday movies and this :

eggnog-2

locally-produced delicious eggnog… from happy grass-fed cows… and i love that they’re old-school with the glass bottle.

eggnog-3

mmmmm… i love those once-a-year kind of treats…

eggnog-1

served with the warm rich flavour of rum…

eggnog-4

poured in a fun glass…

eggnog-5

garnished with freshly-grated nutmeg.

mmmmm, so cozy… and this is the best intro to any movie ever :

what are your favourite holiday drinks or movies?

yeap, love actually is my all time favourite holiday movie as well! A glass of wine would be perfect as we don’t have eggnog here in Greece (neither the drink nor the tradition)

no, I actually haven’t, something tells me though I would actually love it. Anyway…back to Greece, after our (almost) 6 months of summer the weather has gotten cold (for Greek standards) which means around 10 C (something like 50 F). I love snow though and we don’t really get any unless we drive to the mountains (a 2hour drive)…xxx

it’s funny how our preferences change as time goes on. i never much cared for eggs at all and now i eat them every day and i like eggnog! haha. i love the snow as well and we haven’t been getting nearly as much as we would like and need. visiting greece is on my bucket list for sure! where are you from originally?

well….my mom is German and my father is a Greek from Istanbul! I’ve lived my whole life in Greece and love this country but I feel often torn apart between the two extremely different cultures. As my mom was a stay at home mom I think I got a lot more German in me at times. Other times I just feel more Greek, I don’t know if it makes any sense!
p.s. You should definitely visit Greece. It has so many beautiful angles…

that makes sense, i can imagine the two are very different. but that has just helped mold you into the well-rounded lady you are, right?! 🙂 i moved a lot when i was young and i think it made for a somewhat shaky childhood but i’m grateful for the different cultures and
people i met along the way. 🙂 xxoo
